Interactive Brokers eliminates fees for US stock trading in Singapore with 24/7 access, fractional shares, and no hidden fees.

Key points:

  • IBKR Lite offers commission-free US stock and ETF trading with 24/7 market access for Singapore investors.
  • Includes fractional shares, automated investing, and no platform or settlement fees.

Interactive Brokers (NASDAQ: IBKR) has rolled out a zero-commission trading service in Singapore, giving local investors access to US stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) without platform or settlement fees.

The move comes with the launch of the IBKR Lite pricing plan, which offers commission-free trading on American equities and ETFs around the clock, five days a week. Singapore residents can now participate in US markets during Asian business hours, even when American exchanges are closed.

Unlike some rivals that promote “zero commissions” but tack on additional charges, Interactive Brokers says its Singapore offering removes such hidden costs entirely.

“We’re pleased to bring zero-commission US stock trading to investors in Singapore,” said Yujun Lin, Chief Executive Officer of Interactive Brokers Singapore. “With IBKR Lite, clients benefit from cost-effective access to the US markets, with zero commissions and no platform or settlement fees.”

The service targets Singapore’s growing base of retail investors seeking international exposure, particularly those facing time zone hurdles when trading US equities. The broker now enables overnight trading in more than 10,000 US-listed securities, addressing the demand for flexibility.

In addition to IBKR Lite, clients can choose the IBKR Pro plan, which uses the company’s SmartRouting technology for optimized order execution. Both options provide access to the company’s global trading platforms and market coverage.

Singapore users can trade fractional shares, set up automated recurring investments, and participate in the Stock Yield Enhancement Program to earn income on fully-paid shares. The broker also offers competitive interest rates on idle cash balances.

Since establishing its Singapore office in 2020, Interactive Brokers has expanded its reach to more than 160 global markets, trading in stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds, and funds. The latest launch underscores the company’s push to capture a greater share of Asia’s retail trading market.

The entry of other companies, such as crypto ECN operator Crossover Markets, signals Singapore’s rising profile as a hub for financial services targeting Asian investors.
