Interactive Brokers adds a Tax Planner to PortfolioAnalyst, helping investors estimate taxes and plan more effectively.
Key points:
Electronic trading giant Interactive Brokers has introduced a new Tax Planner tool within its PortfolioAnalyst platform, giving investors a streamlined way to estimate taxes tied to their brokerage activity.
The Tax Planner enables users to select specific investment accounts for inclusion, incorporate taxable income sources from outside those accounts, and customize tax rates to generate a tailored tax estimate. The tool calculates both the total estimated tax and the combined taxable income from multiple sources, offering investors a more complete view of their potential obligations.
PortfolioAnalyst, already a comprehensive hub for consolidating and analyzing financial accounts, allows investors to track performance across asset classes, sectors, instruments, and geographic regions. It also includes a range of portfolio risk and performance metrics, such as Max Drawdown, Sharpe Ratio, Sortino Ratio, Calmar Ratio, Alpha, and Beta. Additional analytics include portfolio concentration, ESG factors, projected income, fixed income analysis, and derivatives “Greeks.”
The platform’s drill-down capabilities help investors identify portfolio movers and track performance over custom time periods. For IBKR clients, PortfolioAnalyst offers real-time account data alongside advanced analysis tools.
PortfolioAnalyst is free to use, with both IBKR and non-IBKR users able to access its suite of tools. Non-clients can link outside accounts for consolidated tracking, while IBKR clients benefit from deeper integration and live market data.
The addition of the Tax Planner marks a further step in Interactive Brokers’ push to equip investors with not just execution tools, but also robust portfolio management and planning capabilities.
